Glad she's going. Maybe she can start to repair the disaster that this administration has wrought in foreign policy.
Yes, I hate her no matter what she does, she will always be a far left liberal idiot.
Seems like the dumb far-right(wrong)have had their say.
I am glad that cogressional menbers are taking a first hand look at what is happening over there.
Bush does not want them or the people of the USA finding out the truth for themselves.
Bush wants to feed everybody his lies and he obviously has a following that will eat every word of garbage that he feeds them.
I say Good going to these members of Congress and have a safe journey!
one must remember that if nancy had been born in Syria, she would have never been speaker of any house, she would have been married off by the age of 13 to some 40 year old uncle and these are people that she wants a dialog with???
Our president has made a mess of diplomatic relationships being it be with countries who put up with us or terrorist countries. Pelosi is not a bad person but is trying to keep talks open so when Bush leaves office we can win back respect from the world
What?! An American, not taking Dana's advise? I'm stunned! Maybe Nancy and her compatriots should just stay at home and trust bushcon's word on everything. They never lie, pure a fresh snow, visionary, wise, apolitical, our God fearing and faultless leaders - why yes, we have every reason to believe them!
! - Sarcasm now OFF - !
Nancy Pelosi IS Speaker of the House. Do I need to remind you folks that she is third in line to the President? She and the others mentioned in the article have the right to travel to these countries and meet with whomever they wish. The US is NOT a Monarchy and just because the 'White House' deems the trip a bad idea does not make it a bad idea in reality. Sure, maybe it's a bad idea for the 'White House' but for the rest of us and the world in general it is NOT a bad idea. Perhaps DIPLOMACY can and will work where invasion and aggressive rhetoric has failed.
The 'White House' has failed in the middle east so it is time for new tactics and new ideas. These will only come from the loyal opposition - Nancy Pelosi and the DEMS!
Just as it has been with every Democrat since Harry Truman, Ms. Pelosi never meets a dictator she doesn't like and admire.
We are here witness to an historic tragedy. The United States has never wanted so badly for an alternative to the party in power as it does now and this is the option we face.
Who wants to bet me she'll go kiss the feet of Hugo Chavez-Frias next? I might be very wrong here. She may well go play kissy-face with Fidel Castro first.

Is this woman really this stupid or could she just be crazy?
Published: October 22, 2006
Nancy Pelosi condemned the new record highs of the stock market as 'just
another example of Bush policies helping the rich get richer.'
'First Bush cut taxes for the rich and the economy has rebounded with new
record low unemployment rates, which only means wealthy employers are
getting even wealthier at the expense of the underpaid working class.'
She went on to say, 'Despite the billions of dollars being spent in Iraq,
our economy is still strong and government tax revenues are at all time
highs. What this really means is that business is exploiting the war
effort and working Americans, just to put money in their own pockets.'
When questioned about recent stock market highs, she responded, ' Only the
rich benefit from these record highs. Working Americans, welfare recipients,
the unemployed and minorities are not sharing in these obscene record
highs.'
'There is no question these windfall profits and income created by the
Bush administration need to be taxed at 100% rate and those dollars
redistributed to the poor and working class.'
'Profits from the stock market do not reward the hard work of our
working class who, by their hard work, are responsible for generating
these corporate profits that create stock market profits for the rich. We in
Congress will need to address this issue to either tax these profits or to
control the stock market to prevent this unearned income to flow to the
rich.'
When asked about the fact that over 80% of all Americans have investments
in mutual funds, retirement funds, 401K's, and the stock market, she replied
'That may be true, but probably only 5% account for 90% of all these
investment dollars. That's just more 'trickle down' economics claiming that
if a corporation is successful, that everyone from the CEO to the floor
sweeper benefit from higher wages and job security which is ridiculous.'How
much of this 'trickle down' ever gets to the unemployed and minorities in our
county? None, and that's the tragedy of these stock market highs.'
'We Democrats are going to address this issue after the election when we
take control of the Congress. We will return to the 60% to 80% tax rates on
the rich and we will be able to take at least 30% of all current lower
Federal Income Tax taxpayers off the roles and increase government income
substantially. We need to work toward the goal of equalizing income in our
country and at the same time limiting the amount the rich can invest.'
When asked how these new tax dollars would be spent, she replied 'We need
to raise the standard of living of our poor, unemployed and minorities. For
example, we have an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in our country who need our help along with millions of unemployed minorities. Stock market windfall profits taxes could go a long way to guarantee these people the standard of living they would like to have as 'Americans.'
A Bush spokesman responded to this interview by saying ,'Mrs. Pelosi has
set a new standard for the spin business.'
Feeling smarter yet?
Send it on to your brilliant friends. I just did!
Well thank goodness we have leadership with good sense and a spirit of reconciliation. The only way for real peace in the world is through dialogue. Nancy Pelosi by visiting Syria is doing more for our country that the ill-advised, low IQ'd, barely elected, worst President in history, that we shamefully have for President. Hooray Nancy! I'd vote for you any day!
I think its great that someone is trying to improve our image abroad - especially with our enemies. Creating diplomatic and economic ties with nations is the best way to reign in their behavior. If we had close diplomatic and economic ties with Syria we would be able to exert a lot more pressure on them to keep out of their neighbor's business.
Go Nancy!! We love you!!! I'm really happy that someone in the U.S. government is finally realizing that communication, not aggression, is the only way toward lasting peace :)
What is this world coming to? Pelosi to Syria? Our sworn enemy? The country that helped supply Hezbollah with the rockets which the whole world thinks defeated us in Lebanon? And thoroughly embarrassed us in the process?
Enough is enough. Time to galvanize the Lobby. Time to line some more pockets and get this whole thing stopped dead in its tracks!
you all sound like a bunch of idiots
What an intelligent level of discourse. These comments perfectly demonstrate the state of the nation's educational system.
You cannot work out your differences if you do not talk about them. You may not even know what your differences are until you talk about them. This is exactly what the world needs more of. Someone that is willing to compromise and work diplomatically. I mean look George W. Bush does neither, instead he absolutely refuses diplomatic means to solve problems and instead uses bombs and because of it the world is a much more peaceful place.
2 things, bridging the divide, the Muslims attacked us & Pelose is spelled Pelosi...idiot.
Good for Nancy! 'Atta' girl ! What a way to tell the Bush White House idiot brigade to go f#*% themselves.
If you do not talk to your enemies, do you seriously expect things to get better? How can you have diplomacy without dialogue at some level? I for one am very proud that some brave lawmakers in our country are taking the initiative that the Bush administration doesn't have the guts to do. All I am reading above is stubborn thinking, which is exactly what got our country into the mess it is in today.
We wouldn't have enemies if we weren't misunderstood, and if we didn't misunderstand them. I agree that some differences are extremely hard to work out, but we can't expect to make any progress at making peace abroad if we do not humble ourselves from the superpower weight we so recklessly throw around these days.
If indeed these regimes have evil intentions, they will fall one day... but if we can't humble ourselves enough to give peace and dialogue a chance, we are the ones that will pay. Iran, for one, is digging it's own grave. Hopefully Syria, by being engaged, will decide on a different path.
Talking about kicking our lawmakers between the legs is probably the most shortsighted and thing I have read. That kind of talk wreaks of a lack of knowledge and clear thought, and unfortunately is very pervasive in this country these days. Maybe we should be spending more on education rather than bombs?
President Bush is wrong to criticize US House Speaker Nanvy Pelosi's plan to visit Syria. President Bush led the US into a catastrophic invasion of Iraq and has engaged US forces in a bloody, futiile and illegal occupation of that country.
President Bush's knowledgeability and judgement on foreign affairs are pathetically poor.
If President Bush were an employee, he would be on a corrective action plan.
Were President Bush a chief executive in a private company, such an action would come from the board of directors.
The role of the Congress in American government can be considered comparable to the role of the board of directors in the corporate world.
Pelosi is going to the scene to gather information to fill out the corrective action plan that Congress has already begun to impose on the incompetent and ineffective President Bush.
