Instead of the U.S. being admired in the world, they are now feared and other countries think they are trying to take over/ that or they think the U.S. is trying to change existing countries to meet their ideas of what they should adhere to - politically and religiously. It's time they backed off and attended to their own problems, which are many!!
As an american taxpayer I could care less if we are admired/feared, but I do agree with you about returning to focus on issues at home though. I would prefer not to pay for bases in the middle east, nor for a missile shield for Europe. If we leave them alone, they will go back to killing each other as they have for millinea. Europe can build its own missile shield if it wants one, and we can go back to exporting Big Macs and Britney Spears.
The missle shield is there to protect Israel. The Europeans can take care of themselves.

You should care. If you ever left that enclave of yours and went out into the real world, you would care very much indeed. It's a shame that humans don't learn from history and the mistakes of others. The US would be well advised to drastically alter their intended world-domination plans because no matter how strong you are; no matter how cunning you are; whenever your modus operandi is exposed, you are doomed to fail before you start.
Let us revisit the israeli holocaust scenario to substantiate my point: We are told by the historians that the israelis were told that they were being taken to concentration camps somewhere in Germany or Austria, I think.
But none of them were told the truth; i.e. that they would be herded into gas chambers. The question arises: Would six million folks walk like a bunch of automatons knowingly into death chambers? Wouldn't they not act like all rational humans would?
Since they are going to kill us, we may as well go down fighting. I am sure that not even half of them would have been gassed had they known the truth.
Second point: The nazis made prisoners they were about to kill dig their own graves and then after they had reached the required depth, shot every one of them. Again I ask the question: Would you dig your own grave at gunpoint knowing that immediately afterwards you are going to be shot?
