Belgrade - An Australian athlete who travelled to Belgrade for the University Games was diagnosed with the swine flu virus, the Games chief executive Nebojsa Ilic said Thursday.
The unidentified athlete was sent to quarantine immediately after he arrived in Belgrade. He travelled separately from his nation's team, the head of the Games' executive committee Nebojsa Ilic said.
'We expect it to be an isolated case,' Ilic was quoted as saying by radio b92.
It was the 14th case of H1N1 strain of the flu reported in Serbia. A dozen patients arrived from other countries where the swine flu was recorded previously and two were infected by a Montenegrin passing through.
None of the patients was reported in a serious condition.
The 25th Summer University Games were opened Wednesday in Belgrade. The 8,500 athletes from 145 countries were screened for the swine flu on arrival to Serbia.
