Singapore confirms first case of H1N1 swine flu

Singapore - Singapore has confirmed its first case of the new strain of H1N1 influenza virus, the Ministry of Health said Wednesday. The patient is a 22 year-old Singaporean woman who was in New York from May 14 to 24. She arrived back in Singapore from New York on board a Singapore Airlines flight on Tuesday morning. Lab tests later confirmed the infection. The patient is currently being treated at a hospital and is in stable condition, the ministry said. It urged passengers who had travelled in the same flight from New York and were seated in rows close to the patient to call a hotline to enable authorities to check on their health condition.
