Taiwan reports three more confirmed cases of H1N1 infection

Taipei - Taiwan on Monday confirmed three more cases of H1N1 infection, including the first locally infected case, raising the total number of infections to nine. Two students returning from the United States became ill on a San Francisco-Taipei flight Sunday and were sent to hospital for tests and treatment Monday, the Centres for Disease Control said. The first locally infected case involved a woman who had dinner with a woman who became infected after a trip to the Philippines for a yoga camp between May 16-20. The CDC raised the level of alert from Level 2 to Level 3, and Health Minister Yeh Chin-chuan cancelled his plan to accompany President Ma Ying-jeou on a visit to Central America.
