Exercise benefits cancer patients

Wiesbaden, Germany - Regular exercise has significant benefits for cancer patients, according to the Professional Association of German Internists (BDI). Forty-five minutes of speed walking a day reduces mortality rates in patients with intestinal cancer by up to 30 per cent. Exercise also helps control weight problems, which are a risk factor for intestinal and breast cancer. Additionally, exercise has a positive effect on a patient's mental health. Active patients tend to be active in their social circles too. That contact provides additional motivation for the fight against cancer.
