Kassel, Germany - A dog is in custody in Germany after going for a train ride without a ticket.

Bemused railways police said the collie jumped aboard the passenger rail-car at a stop in Huemme, Hesse state on Tuesday.

The driver later grabbed it and tied it up near his seat. Police in Kassel put the dog in the city pound.

'It not only didn't have a ticket. It didn't have an ownership tag either,' said police, who were reminded of the screen dog Lassie, which has been making cross-country journeys home to its owners in films and TV series since 1938.
