The USA is going bankrupt due to rediculous military expenditures, much as USSR did years ago. There is a Point of Diminishing Returns for the Pentagon, as well as any other business. Case in point: Outspending Russia 625 billion to 40 billion & still backing down to Putin a few months ago. We could be spending only 200 billion (5 times Russia)& get the same political result, saving 400 billion. A few years of that & maybe we could start helping our distressed economy/national debt. But we seem intent on maintaining 880 military bases in 130 countries. A vast checker board of raw power! If the basic principles of Mutually Assured Destruction are still in place, then being stalemated by Russia's 6,000 nukes & 40,000 metric tons of chemicals means there is a point where our staggering Pentagon budget becomes grandiose waste. Gorbachev was smart enough to realize his country's great mistakes. It is high time the USA quits spending more than the next 20 nations combined!!
