Alphons Orie is the biggest clown I have ever seen in the judicial system. How on earth is this man going to provide for a fair trial if he in fact was defending in 1995 the Bosnian Serb war criminal responsible for many massacres in Bosnia, Dusko Tadic before the ICTY, and challinging the powers of the ICTY stating that the ICTY was improperly been established and had no jurisdiction at all!

Yesterday during the preliminary hearing the circus was completed, the way he addressed to Radovan Karadzic seemed to me he was rather adressing to a war hero than to a war criminal that has been charged with the most severe crimes against humanity including Genocide.

He summarized the indicment rather than fully read it. I do not know whether he did for pragmatic reasons or maybe to save Karadzic for further painfull humiliation, this is more likely, but by doing so he showed lack of respect to the victims of Bosnian muslim population and the survivors of the war and to those who still have some morality in their mind and hearts. The world had a right to hear the full indictment!

Instead Alphons Orie spent valuable time by time after time repeating himself and making sure that Karadzic was fully aware of his rights, rescheduling a new date for the following hearing. Alphons Ories whole appearance including that of the prosecutors seemed to me very unprofessional, very unmotivated and uninvolved. Maybe large sums of money were paid to this people to do the 'ungreatful' task. Afterall Alphons Orie never made a secret that he made a good living from his work at the ICTY earning a $ 250,000 a year.

As long as the West does not give up her mentality to dominate the world and the rest of the world is oblivous about the fact that the war in Bosnia and the establishment of the ICTY had everything to do with power politics, we will be presented with more of these shows and charades of so-called international justice!!

My wife and I had an impression of Judge Alphons Orie that is diametrically opposite to 'lavender''s. We have never seen anyone more dignified. He seemed completely self-assured -- totally aware of his position, and of the power he holds over Karadzic, and consequently he showed no sign of having to make a DISPLAY of how tough and powerful he is in relation to Karadzic. By his precise and deliberate manner, Orie demonstrated a desire to maintain a calm and dignified decorum in his courtroom. In addressing Karadzic, Judge Orie behaved as nothing more or less than a gentleman, demonstrating civility and courtesy toward him. This did not appear to us to show reverence, or admiration, for Karadzic. Instead, it seemed to arise from an innate sense of politeness in Orie's character, and a recognition that no matter how inhumanely Karadzic has behaved, he is still a human being -- flawed, and far from perfect -- but human. To treat him with decency, and humanity, costs nothing, and in its own way underlines the immense differences between a civilized gentleman such as Orie, and a monstrous man such as Karadzic has been, for at least part of his life.

With respect to Orie's previous actions as defense attorney for the likes of Dusko Tadic, we might remember that in the legal profession, in an adversarial system, it is an absolute requirement that a lawyer do every single thing in his power to represent -- and, in crimial cases, defend -- his client. Is it fair to assassinate Orie's character because he did his work to the best of his ability in accordance with the requirements of his profession?
