I think its right for the mighty Russia to take any action more so military action if the two countries join nato.Russia should take up the challege seriously so as to protect the former SOVIET UNION'S parts using any means possible.Russia is still a superpower and should stop the US from expanding near its borders. This is a sign of aggression by the far west(it's trying to spearhead another coldwar).Russia should be respected as a military and nuclear power. The so called US should bother itself with the rebuilding of IRAQ which they invaded on minor grounds of nuclear weapons yet they themselves have. Why can't they try to invade Russia which possesses the most lethal nuclear weapons on the globe? It is the high time that the RUSSIANS proved their might to the americans who have for the last few years taken the RUSSIANS for granted. The RUSSIANS should adopt the policies of the former SOVIET leader JOSEF STALIN and deal with nato as if dealing with the americans.

Russia still has their dirty little secrets in their closet. Why don't you have anything to say about their deals with Iran. Like thats not a wack job running that show . I say let the sparks fly and see if lady liberty prevails over hammer and sickle tyranny. God has mercy I don't!

Russia need not worry about NATO. Just build more nukes and bomb all of them. Let's start the nuke war!!!!

Nothing, absolutely nothing. I had been military engineer, I got couple guys in air force now and I can say in reality today's Russian army out of order. Everything is old and low moral. Probably Mr., Baluevsky drank too much.

GREAT IDEA John Kariuki! The current Russian leadership should adopt the tactics of Stalin! I only have one question though, do the purges, pograms, and starvation of more than 40,000,000 of your own people come before or after he deals with NATO?

Yep, Russia is a superpower. Just look at all the out houses in the villages. Look at our great roads. Look at our infrastructure. Look at all the bribes it takes you to get into anything or out of anything. That's my idea of a superpower Likuli. Maybe you should visit the west just once in your life and see what democracy and freedom really is. Or just get sick once and go to your superpower hospital. Yep, we are a superpower. A superpower of crooks, criminals and bullshi## like you Likiluli. Lubov

Jurgen,

You must be a socialist you sound like one and with all that animosity toward America I believe the truth would be that you’re jealous you’re not an American! I don't know from what crappie little euro trash nation you’re from but clearly you don't like being there. FYI our economy controls the worlds without us you got nothing. As for the Russians big deal I like Russians I think they are nice people but their country will never be the same as it was during the cold war that’s a fact.

Man, as a former Marine, I love this tough talk. Now if only Russia could find an army that could fight it's way out of a paper bag, we'd be on to something. This is the same army that got kicked out of Afghanistan by a bunch of stone age muslims. If memory serves...we rolled up all Afghan resistance (or sent them scurrying like cockroaches to Pakistan) in about 3 weeks. Russia would take a couple of weeks longer.

I must say first Communism is on the right wing side not left wing. But its funny how similar the United States and Russia are. Perhaps the two most similar countries in the world. Highest crime rates, most number of people in jail, two most corrupt governments. Except at least what I hear that Russia atleast gives a shi* about its people with universal health care. Instead the United States just money money money while the tobacco company, oil industry, insurance companies, and pharmesutical industry all control our government. I mean come on there is even more rasicm in america such as blacks are voting more than any other time in history just because a black man is running for president. Just a little fyi Africans or african americans average IQ is 72. I mean really all we do is bitch and never get anything done. In russia from what I read a majority of the russian population loves putin because he is getting Russia back on track and thats how it should be. We shouldn't be fighting, we shouldn't be threatening, we should only be making peace isn't that what the new generation is about. This is not the 1600s. We should work to gether regardless of cost to get the whole world into what the people need then deal with what they want. We should also all work together to rid the world of terrorist which is against Russia and China's part. Also america bitc*s about China yet China helps its people and is growing faster than america ever grew. WE complain o they have homeless they live in shacks, etc.. yet China is building 1000s of house more than us a month and yet they have less money to spend. We need to look at what is right in the world not what relgion says is right or what the government says is right. Remember the people control the government the government don't control the people and that goes for all governments. All countries have there faults but we need to look at how the country is good and take advantage of that. Honestly the US does more threatening than any other country like it is all powerful, please we could collapse it right now if we wanted to. Same goes for Russia, Britain, France, and China. So every think resonably and do what is right not what you want. BTW i'm an American and wondering if I'm actually proud to be an american because the corruption is so bad.

The calls for communism have to be just blatant troll posts. How could you ever want to go back to that? I don't care how wealthy you might think you will become...you're paying for it with your freedom of speech.

Russia should start worrying about the territory they already have and stop worrying about what their neighbors are doing. Your population is going to be reduced by like 20% over the next 20 years and you will have the one of the smallest population densities in the world controlling the largest swath of land. How are you going to maintain infrastructure across your entire country when you have like 1 person per 10 square miles in all of central russia? You can't survive on selling AKs and anti-air missiles to every revolutionary and terrorist forever.

Ignoring some of this arrogant rhethoric above, getting back to substance of story...

Putin himself reportedly made coments treatening militarty action, treatening to make steps to brake up Ukraine if they pursue memebership in NATO.
As many Ukrainians, I, knowing some history lessons (totalitarian Russia wiping off milions of Ukrainians in genocide of 1933), knowing current attitudes of Russian leadership towards Ukraine, I would very much prefer to have protection of Ukraine from Russia by the fact of being in NATO.

Ther drive for such move comes from Ukraine not from US somehow needing to expend thru entire Europe.
They got their places to mount radars/antimissle systems in Poland.

I sure hope this treatening rethoric never matherialises.
I have nothing against Russia being strong on global scene, but Isure as hack do not want my country, Ukraine to be used, ripped apart, or be a victim of military actions of aggogant empire.

Some of the people here, they sure would fit with their moronic irresponsible rhetoric, as well in Stalinist era as they would in Hitler's Germany.
regarding of what nationality or color or flavor, such arrogance is so dangerous on govements level or on the level of average Joe.

@Joshua:

That was easily the most incoherent, rambling post I have ever read. You didn't have a clear statement in the entire paragraph and couldn't stick to any main thesis except that you don't like America. Too bad, leave. Go to Tibet. Look at that growth they have from the benevolent Chinese government! They're building tons of houses for all the lucky Tibetans. Just ignore the fact that they're also stripping them of their autonomy and culture, but I guess only Americans are able to think about money, wealth, and prosperity and ignore whatever anyone else has to say about it. I could probably end up writing entire case study on each of your disjointed themes you touched on and how wrong each and every one is based on hard facts, statistics and economics.

You got my point, and that point is that everyone is complaining about each others governments but never takes the time and think maybe I shouldn't be bitc*ing maybe I should help the world. Or perhaps there is solutions other than war. I am happy with america in a few aspects but you must admit that you are not happy with it in some aspects and when I say that as an american i'm saying that every country has there problems and everyone hear just complains so why don't they think about there own countries problems as well and realize that all of our countries have problems and none of us will ever be completely happy with our country unless they begin to work together. No one can disagree with that statement!

Josh,

I disagree with your statement I LOVE AMERICA it is the greatest country on earth and I wouldn't change a thing. If we weren't the greatest then everyone wouldn't want to come here. I'm guessing that you have never left the USA so you really don't know what is like and how fortunate we are as a country.

Russia is a bully, who feels by threatening it can bluff it way to victory. Russia's time is coming, the Sons of MAGOG. My view is to tell Russia to kiss my ass, surround Russia by NATO and contain it, then strangle it slowly.

This American doesn't like his own government administration or Russia's. But I respect the Russian people who have demonstrated time and time again that they are capable of great things.

I'm happy Russia & the US are working together in space. And I'm happy when Russia has stepped in and increased oil production to help out the USA in the past. I really wish military and political posturing would move aside so both countries could work towards even greater things.

When both countries work together there isn't much that can stand in their ways.

Obviously all countries have down sides. None of us living in glass houses should be throwing bricks.
