Prague - The US Congress is set Wednesday to hear opinions on climate change from global-warming denier Czech President Vaclav Klaus, the Czech president's spokesman Petr Hajek confirmed Tuesday.
The House Committee on Energy and Commerce invited Klaus to a Wednesday hearing on climate change that is to be attended by former US vice president Al Gore, the Mlada fronta Dnes newspaper reported on Tuesday.
According to the report, Klaus could not attend the hearing. Instead he provided answers to five questions sent to him in a letter signed by Republican members of the committee, Congressmen Joe Barton and Dennis Hastert.
Klaus recently said in a newspaper interview that only Al Gore, and not a sane person, could say that mankind is ruining the planet.
According to the Czech president, 'other top-level politicians' do not express their doubts over global warming because 'a whip of political correctness strangles (their) voice.'
