Fireworks illuminate the night sky infront of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, Germany, 09 November 2009 during celebrations to mark the 20th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall. International leaders were congregating in Berlin on 09 November 2009, 20 years to the day after the fall of the Berlin Wall augured the end of Europe's East-West divide. On 09 November 1989, travel restrictions for East German citizens were unexpectedly lifted, prompting a rush of thousands of Berliners to the barrier, where they were allowed to cross.
