A man with a child stands in front of the memorial of late Bulgarian communist leader Todor Zhivkov in a park in the town of Pravets, some 55 km from Sofia, Bulgaria, 09 November 2009. One day after the Fall of the Berlin Wall, Bulgaria's communist party chief Todor Zhivkov resigned in what is today known as a "politbureau-coup" after more than 30 years in power. It happened on 10 November 1989 in the state residence Boyana near the capital Sofia. The ousting of Zhivkov paved the way for long and difficult democratic reforms leading to the first multi-party elections im June 1990. Today in Zhivkov`s birth place to the East of Sofia, there is a museum dedicated to him, where assistants clean the portrait of the former communist ruler, while visitors can write their commentaries ina guest book.
