New Delhi - India's benchmark Sensex rebounded on Wednesday in posting a hefty 4.6 per cent gain on the back of heavy buying in blue-chip stocks.

The 30-share index, which had lost 176.34 points on Tuesday, gained 614.61 points and closed the day's trade at 13,964.2 points.

Heavy buying was seen in automotive, banking, realty, power and capital goods stocks.

Similarly, the broader S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange, gained 168.55 points to 4169.40 points.

Market analysts said falling crude oil prices and firming global markets had a positive impact on the trading in the domestic bourses.
