From Monsters and Critics.com Business News Berlin - A 14.5-per-cent surge in car sales in Central Europe last year helped to offset stagnating car sales in the more established Western Europe, data released Wednesday said. The Brussels-based European Automotive Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) said car sales in Western Europe recorded only a 0.2 per cent increase in 2007 as soaring oil prices, growing economic uncertainty and shrinking credit opportunities undercut consumer demand. However, releasing the data the ACEA said that car density in the new European Union member states was still much lower than in Western Europe. © 2008 dpa - Deutsche Presse-Agentur© Copyright 2007 by monstersandcritics.com.
