The name sounds Hmong to me. In Thailand, it is very common for Hmong and other ethnics to add Sae (Xeem) to their last name.

The woman is a Hmong no doubt about it. I believe she have been dealing with controlled substances for a long time. For her to get caught this time, she must had got away 10 times before. However, her involvement in drug trafficking is not worrying me. What worry me is the Thai Justice System, the Thai has been known for their cruel and unsual excessive punishment of their prisoners. In order to help this woman avoid serving jail times, she can help law enforcement in Thailand to crackdown on drug cartels. She can point out who is the back stage runners. Again, let me make it clear. Her life is at state here, but no one placed her in this situation; She put herself there in the first place knowing the risk. My hope is that the Thai Authority will use jail times as a bargaining chip for her information which can lead Thai authority to a bigger fish and that big fish will lead them to anyother bigger fish.

Don't CareJul 17th, 2009 - 07:56:44

Even 'Sae' the word stands before her last name, I do not care about herself is now becaused the wolrd money crises. The reality of the drug was belong to her, but find out who's delivered to other country, don't just mentioned something bad to the Hmong and you is always claimed you are a good person. According to the world record Thailand is one of the 'drug cartel' country. May you open you right eye to see back on the Priminister Thatsin's administartion he killed thousand and thousands drug trafickers who died by dealing drug. That lady is a Thai's wife, lady, girl who is a Thai citizen sells drug on Thai's soi it is not in the United Stats of America. We are good United States citizen who want to protect only our land do not let any drug walks from Thailand to land on our soi. First, take good care yourself and family, do not worry about someone else families too much.

If you do the crime; you pay the time.Jul 17th, 2009 - 15:26:52

The Thai Police had done a good job. We have to have a good police force to weed out those people that break the laws because we have a system to deal with them.

Dear readers of the world, the name Payia Saesong is 100% Thai-Hmong. Minority groups living in Thailand such the Hmong and Mien or Yao are adopting the 'SAE' before their last name due to the fact that Thai people labelled them that way when they first emerged into the Thai society many years ago. Thai used 'SAE' to labelled them as Lao and Chinese used to called Hmong 'Moew, or meow' translating to (wild cat) or in Chinese simply as grass.

Back to the fact - anyone who commited crime should be arrested and prosecute to the maximum penalty of the law in that particular country. Hmong has suffered enough and have shed too much tears for this sort of illegal drug. Consuming, selling or distributing illegal substances such as opium will only damage Hmong image. I urge Thailand police and justice system to treat all race equally...punish all criminals without prejudice. This will help Thailand improve its image around the world. Also, stop punish only the weaks and poors. LET NOT USE ONE CASE APPLIES TO ALL HMONG.
