Lucky the Taiwanese parrot revs up when you say "car"

Taipei - It's a bit more than just imitating parrot-fashion. Lucky the Taiwanese parrot doesn't just repeat 'car' when you say the word. He (or she) makes a revving noise. Say 'cat', and Lucky says 'miao'. Say rooster, and Lucky says 'gugu', parrot approximation for cock-a-doodle-doo. The grey parrot's talent was put on show by owner Liao Hui-chu of Kaohsiung, southern Taiwan, in a programme aired by ETTV Sunday. 'Lucky, Lucky, Cat, Cat,' Liao said to the parrot perched on her left shoulder. The bird gazed at Liao's eyes for a while, and then said: 'Miao.' 'Good, Lucky. Then what about Rooster?' she asked. 'Gugu.' Asked to respond to 'train' and 'plane', Lucky chirped 'chiu' and 'duuuu', clearly parrot talk for 'choo' and 'whoosh'. Lucky also seemed to know numbers. Asked by Liao to respond to 2 times 3, Lucky said 'Liu (6 in Chinese). Asked what is 2 times 4 and 2 times 5, Lucky replied 'Ba (8)' and 'Shi (10).' Liao told ETTV that she bought Lucky five years ago. 'I treat it like my child. I talk to Lucky all the time. When I go out, I put it on my shoulder and it goes everywhere with me.' She did not disclose whether her pet was male or female.
