Normally separatist are considered a minority group of people who want to maintain their identity separate from the majority. The Taiwanese in Taiwan constitute at least 85% of the population, the overwhelming majority. Would it not be more accurate to characterize the Chinese minority let by President Ma as the separatists, who are attempting to force their Chinese identity on the Taiwanese?
