China is finally learning a lesson from the pressure the World is putting on its dealing with Tibet, Buddhism and the Dalai Lama.
I am very pleased and I feel there is hope that China is willing to change its oppressive regime to a more democratic approach to people living it its own territory.
World Opinion can make individual countries act differently.
Provided the World Opinions are not biased towards countries which preach monotheism and undemocratic practices.
This has also happened with the World Organization which was prevalently Muslim oriented.
However this time World Opinion is putting pressure on a country which does not practise Democracy and whose human rights have a great deal before they can be regarded as having improved.
Good Luck to China and congratulations for showing GOOD WILL!

Although Tibet is primitive while Hong Kong and Taiwan are advanced, Tibet should have the same arrangements China has with Hong Kong or Taiwan, or something between those extremes. Other provinces are also restive. Perhaps it is time for China to host all the leaders of all China's provinces and come to an agreed upon understanding about mutual governance that will be best for China. Being belligerent only wastes money and everybody's time. China is still a very poor and undeveloped country, although some progress has been made. Clearly the last few years demonstrate the opportunities that China has been missing out on for all these decades under crazy communism. It is not in America's best interest for China to find peace among its several pieces (although we wish they would as a broken state is a dangerous one liable to drag us into another unwanted and unnecessary conflict), it is in China's best interest. Few flowers bite the very bees that pollinate them, instead most of the flowers offer nectar to bees. China should offer nectar, too.

i fail to see why the chinese could have a clear view on this as they are obviously under tight control from their governments and brainwashed from birth,it takes a great deal of perceptional power to break through ones conditioning, i ask any person in china if they have ever considered having another view or what would happen if they did? simple answer-ask the tibetans what they think...

If I say USA should be separated into fifty countries, what do you think about, America Man or French dogs? Western media always cheat their audiences and blames our country because of ideology and despicable aims.Though I don't like our government, I feel hate for western government and the western media they afford stealthily.

Dear Jim,

I think you should learn Chinese culture deeply, then you will understand why Chinese hate splittism. DON'T always say 'you are brainwashed by your government'. Do you live in Tibet for long time? How do you know that every Tibetan want to found a separated country? 'No research, no comment.' You think your western medias are right, but actually they also are swindlers. You should live in Tibet for a short time, then you will know who tells the truth and what are all Tibetan's thought.

Today,Chinese are prohibited by their government from having photographs of the Dalai Lama. Why is that?

To call the Dalai Lama a 'terrorist' is simple proof of brainwashing.

Have you met the Dalai Lama? I have.

The whole world sees that he is an important voice for peace and interfaith/international reconciliation and human understanding. His message is a gospel of love.

The Chinese government's message is a gospel of disinformation and genocide.

The Tibetan genocide is a dark fact that no patriotic reeducation/brainwashed Han can cope with.

Do the Chinese realy feel that flush toilets are worth being tortured; having your native language outlawed, and the whole university/monastic system 'liberated' by being destroyed. Why are journalists prohibited from Lhasa? China afraid of the truth, maybe?

We, the tibetan NOT asking indenpence, we ask some simple things: the chinese central government talk with the Dalailama and let the tibetan people live togehter with our way of life. The tibean keeping their colture not meant to separate china.

China is claiming Tibet as part of China because both China and Tibet were once occupied by Mongols and Manchus. If that is the case then China should be part of Mongolia.

Lets get some perspective here:
Tibet was never recognize as a nation at any point in history. The Mongol and Manchu Dynasties are still considered Chinese, because the Mongol and Manchu are one of the 56 ethnic groups of Chinese. PRC is a continuation of them. Therefore if Tibet was part of the Yuan and Ming, its part of the PRC. The Dalai Lama signed a 17 point treaty and met with Mao (There are pictures). When the PRC abolished serfdom in Tibet, the Lama rebelled by siding with the British & CIA. China felt betrayed, as you can understand, and took back control of Tibet themselves. Lama and his 'nobel' high rank monks ran to British controlled India.

The Lama is no angel for those who met him. He met with Hitlers people and the Japanese terrorist who blew up the Tokyo subway (Google it or find it on YouTube). He said he has nothing to do with the riots but then said he would step down if violence continues. If thats not dishonesty then what is?

China is always open to talk with the Lama and his people. It was simply too soon since the riots started only a month ago and the violence in other parts of the world are still fresh. China is considering talk because the Lama is desperate. No one is boycotting and the protest has been embarrassing to the cause. Chinese are more united than ever. Lama is even back tracking to support the Olympics and not seek independence. The least China can do is pity him and give him a shoulder to cry on.

For all this talk back and forth, only the PRC has provided solid evidence such as pictures of western media bias and guns in monasteries. Seriously what are these peaceful Monks doing with guns? Separatist has only chanted for human right abuse with no real evidence. Some names of the 140+ kill were either still alive or made up.

Support for China has come all over the world. This PRC brainwash claim has no base and only proves anti-China view is outdated. Its the west who is more liable to brainwash because they can only understand English and relies on networks like BBC & CNN which has been proven to distort facts ( see Anti-CNN.com). Chinese supporters have weighted news from both sides and sees more truth from the PRC.
