The remarks by Hu Jintao are correct! For the unity of China he has no other choice but to defend the best interests of all of China. The lives of every day Tibetans has much improved since the days when the butter-tea monks ruled the country.

To the propagandist and agent of CCP,

Excerpts from NY Times, 'privilege and power are overwhelmingly the preserve of the Han, while Tibetans live largely confined to segregated urban ghettos and poor villages in their own ancestral lands.' So much for life getting better. Sure, only for the Han Chinese. Keep trying to fool the world. China is today what Germany was in the 30's. Here, people like you are in the U.S. allowed to wave the flag of a country that is only waiting for the right moment to go to war with us.

I thought the Chinese were a higher intellect people until this. Do they not realize that the world is laughing at them? Given their past performance with things like the Tiamen Square, versus the Dali Lama and his quest for peace, if the world had a choice, they will believe the Dali Lama.

Each time the Central Chinese Government opens there mouth with this rhetoric the world laughs. Here are a bunch of morons that a too stupid to realize that their words only make themselves look more idiotic in the eyes of the world. If they just shut their mouths they would be be better. How can a government who runs such a large country be so darn dumb. To the Chinese Government, 'We laugh at your stupidity'. To the Dali Lama, 'We believe in you and your continued lifelong preachings for peace'

It is sort of like saying the people in all of the lands the Romans conquered had better roads and baths. Without noting all of the lives lost in their conquest and the cultures controlled. I also have been to Tibet several times. If you ask a Tibetan they don't give a darn if the Chinese Government brought flushing toilets, they like their culture. Hey if you could bring flushing toilets to the nomadic peoples of the desert to you think they would build houses around them? Sure, beat me and tell me I'll live a better life for it...jerks!

Go to war with us? Your ignorance is profound.

Which government is continuously denigrating the other? Which government is advocating the division of the other’s country? Which government has military bases on the other’s doorstep? Which government tries to interfere in the internal affairs of the other?

Do you think the American government has no agenda behind this anti-Chinese rhetoric and the associated media propaganda?

Do you know that America owes China $1,400,000,000,000 ???

If China had any plan of “going to war with us”, wouldn’t it have been pretty stupid to loan us that much money? Obviously, China wants America to be a strong and economically healthy trading partner who can eventually repay that debt.

Here’s a hypothesis for you: If America can make enough people believe that China is evil, America can justify not paying any of its debt by claiming that it does not support evil.

People like you are certainly buying into it.

America is always good and always right. Huh? Everything you read must be true, isn’t it? You’re eager to protest and make erroneous statements about a subject you’ve never bothered to study. Why bother to study? We’ve got TV!!!

-------------
How do you know? Have you been to Tibet? Have you talked to ordinary tibetans living there?
My relative went to Tibet many times in the past 40 years due to his research work. Actually ordinary Tibetans like Han people and their lives have improved so much.
Chinese government spend lots of tax money(from Han people) on Tibetan's development. Many Han tourists went to Tibet said the ordinary Tibetan are richer than ordinary Han.
In China, if one of a guy's parents is minority. He will claims himself as minority. Do you know why? Because then he will get much better benefits than Han.
I understand you westerners hate China and Chinese for some reason. But when you accuse China, please based on facts, not your imagination.

Tibet was an independent country with her own government and heritage until the Chinese occupied her.

Of course, after 60 years lives will change. Look at China it has changed from an backward country into what it is today. So saying the Chinese improve lives in Tibet is a misnomer.

What would you Chinese think if America occupy and be the government of China. America will improve China must faster than Chinese government ever could. If you would not accept this occupied government then why is that all right for you to impose your occupied government to the Tibetan.

Time for the Chinese to get out Tibet, return the Paracel islands to the Vietnamese and begin to act as a civilized nation.

The old way of expanding one own border is no longer accepted in the 21st century. China will fail. As long as Chinese still cling to the old idea of world domination, Chineses is no more than a bully in the block. The world will kick your asses.

Stupid John SmithApr 13th, 2008 - 14:16:31

John Smith always thinks that his opinion represents the world. No wonder this country is degenerating. Don't you know that people all of the world are laughing at the mess after Hurricane Katrina? Don't you know that all the people in the world are seeing that the American is stuck in Iraq with their stupid policy? Don't you know that 9-11 is partly caused by hatred toward US foreign policy? Believe me, more people in the world would think that US policy now is more like 1940's German. Unless this kind stupid john smiths get their lesson learned in a hard way, this country is not going to recover. Hope candid people like Soros, Buffet and many other smart people in US get their voice heard. Otherwise this country is doomed.

Mind your own business first before you attack Iraq, Iran and other mid east countries; clean you own mess first before accuse Russian, China. Travel around the world and see how many people like American.

To TraiViet

Don't change the history here, Tibet has been a part of China more than thousands years.

Dailai as a previous governor declared Tibet a country just because Chairman Mao planned bringing democracy to those Tibetan salves who were 95% of previous Tibetan, so Dalai rebelled but failed and fled, the 'country' didn't exist more than one day.

Few Tibetan monks and Dailai's oversea followers who were Tibetan nobles and monks are against China goverment for their different dream, but most current Titetan local people love government, because nobody want to be Dalai and those monks' slaves again.

Can any American, French minority declare independence?

We know the answer

TraiViet, you are cheering for the independence of Tibet just because the viets hate China due to the viet-china war. Stop being a hypocrite. You do not really care about Tibet since you do not even know the history of Tibet. Your mentality is that the enemies of my enemies are my friends.

TO John SmithApr 13th, 2008 - 15:53:07

John Smith: I am not defending China for her poor human rights record. Indeed, China needs to improve. However, every time an American opens his mouth and yeps about human rights issues in other countries, does he know his sincirty is largely doubuted. Do you know why? Think about the poor performance of your own country. Let's not go back too far in the past when Indians were the true owners of America. Let's take a look at the recent war in Iraq. You are incurably brainwashed if you believe that the American troops were fighting for the freedom of the Iraqis or fighting terrorists.

John Smith or alike, please help your own country first. Tell your won country that people in other countries such as Iraq are humans too.

China wants to go to WRA with the US?Apr 13th, 2008 - 16:03:55

What a cold war mentality! There is nothing about communism left in China although the ruling part is still called 'the communist party'. With China's such a big pile of US dollars and the plunging US dollar, China does not even diversify its assets. That is China has not sold any US dollars. Why? China is not stupid. It does not do so because China does not want to cause any trouble for the US economy, which is in pretty bad shape now due to subprime debacle. Any rumor that China would sell US dollars has caused a big drop in US dollar. You know that if you trade currencies. The plunging US dollar is hurting China now in the short term.

I am a Chinese. Here I have some of my own feelings that I want to tell the people who care about China.

I am very sad about people you say boycotting Olympics. I am the Han. But I have many friends who are minorities, like Tibetans. I love Tibet and love the people live there.

I want to apologize for some ignorances by the Han that minorities live in a poor life and that we, the Han, do not care about their life. Truly, there exist biases and discriminations that many Chinese people more cater for western wealth and despise the people who live in poverty. I am sorry for this.

But there are also some positive facts that I want to mention. China has been making efforts to keep economy development in interior area of China, especially in Tibet. Before 1980, because of high altitude and hardy natural environment in Tibet, people there do not have easy access to the outside world. After the open policy of China, China got richer. The Government put hundreds of billions of dollars in paving roads and railway to Tibet.

Another facet, China did not want to be criticized by religious prohibition,so the government appropriated billions of dollars to refurnish temples in Tibet and other provinces in China and tried to keep improving monks' living standard. After 1980, people have freedoms of religion. Now, I have a religion of Buddhism.

I feel depressed by your criticisms and threatens of boycotting Olympic games. Do you know Chinese people are making every effort to prepare for better understanding by the world with opportunity of Olympic games.
Chinese people want to make the world know that China is changing and we are in the time of change. They have prepared full heartily to welcome you to come to China. All the Chinese people are learning English for better communication with the world in Olympic games. While we are preparing full heartily for the Olympics, you are saying boycotting it. Do you know what is our Chinese people's feeling?

I want democracy, but I also like a stable society. China is changing fast, it is in the time of change. Please trust China will be better.

Regarding to Dalai Lama, I hope he would like to go back to China. China is his homeland. Whatever any disputes that happened in the previous times, Chinese people respect him. Both the Han and Tibetans are in a family.

In the end, I want to apologize again for any discrimination that happened between the Han and Tibetans. I love Tibet and Tibetans.

National Pride or Mental Illness:

The country or person that thinks that others rights should be disregardel is a form of mental illness. The country or person is guided by a group dynamic such as Nation pride (us against them). A narcissist views questions of their behavior as a threat and will fight to keep their false sense of superiority. They will not listen to reason and attack back if their policies or behavior is questioned.

See the quote from Mayo Clinics NPD diagnosis and research the dynamics of groups, teams and countries.

'Although some features of narcissistic personality disorder may seem like having confidence or strong self-esteem, it's not the same. Narcissistic personality disorder crosses the border of healthy confidence and self-esteem into thinking so highly of yourself that you put yourself on a pedestal. In contrast, people who have healthy confidence and self-esteem don't value themselves more than they value others.

When you have narcissistic personality disorder, you may come across as conceited, boastful or pretentious. You often monopolize conversations. You may belittle or look down on people you perceive as inferior. You may have a sense of entitlement. And when you don't receive the special treatment to which you feel entitled, you may become very impatient or angry. You may also seek out others you think have the same special talents, power and qualities — people you see as equals. You may insist on having 'the best' of everything — the best car, athletic club, medical care or social circles, for instance.

But underneath all this grandiosity often lies a very fragile self-esteem. You have trouble handling anything that may be perceived as criticism. You may have a sense of secret shame and humiliation. And in order to make yourself feel better, you may react with rage or contempt and efforts to belittle the other person to make yourself appear better.'
