Australia demands that migrants integrate

Sydney - People wanting to settle in Australia will need to show a willingness to integrate into the host society, Immigration Minister Kevin Andrews said Tuesday in a speech detailing a further shift away from the gospel of multiculturalism. As well as sitting a citizenship test and signing a commitment to liberal democracy, intending citizens will need to show a desire to fit in before being accepted as new Australians. 'In addition to the citizenship test and the values statement, the government has decided to put greater emphasis on the capacity of potential migrants to integrate into our community,' Andrews told a gathering in Sydney. He said applicants would need to show a commitment to learning English and a commitment to the Australian way of life. 'This way of life is influenced by a history that includes the Judeo-Christian beliefs and traditions brought by British settlers,' he said. Andrews said Australia was following England and the Netherlands in tightening visa requirements for those seeking to enter the country. © 2007 dpa - Deutsche Presse-Agentur

The is is good news. One hopes that our country will stop its slow path to suicide brought by the politics of multiculturalism and political correctness in general and return to its root befor it is too late. WWe have, and should always, welcome immigrants who follow the legal route to America. If people don't wish to adapt by adopting our culture they should stay in their own where they will be more comfortable. Kindness never should require the personal destruction of wht one values dearly.
