The world needs guided men, not guided missiles.
Guided men, yes. Guided by wisdom, not some myth called god or allah or whatever. And where do we find such a person? I cannot see one on the political horizon.
and away we go like a ruptured duck in a hail storm
Having this guy (GW) represent us is like having a drunk drive your kids home form school. This guy needs to go, all he has done is cause trouble, ruined our reputation with the rest of the world and is now playing with nukes in the name of god.
I hope we all survive the next 18 months.
peace is not rocket science...
Relax, Jack. You'll live longer.
In six years, we've seemed to avoid Armageddon, so I think 18 more months will not bring the 4 horsemen of the Apocolypse. The economy is stellar, tax revenue is through the roof, inflation is in check and we are even reducing the deficit, something the dems have yet to help on.
Europe is shedding it's socialist leaders. They are finally opening their eyes to their predicament. Even the towelheads are realizing their killers are going to turn on them, so we are getting new help from unlikely sources.
We just saw the three little pigs debate and it was hilarious, seeing Hillary and Edwards trying to wiggle out of their war votes in public. God, I haven't seen moon walking like that since Michael Jacksons MTV live appearence.
SP4
I guess it is ok with you that we have lost 3000+ of our sons and daughters? You sir are an idiot!
Personally, I think the deaths of 15,000 (3000 americans and 12,000 Iraqi, British, etc. troops) is repugnant.
Almost as repugnant as the lib toe dippers who greenlighted this party and then stepped into a debate and backpeddled in front of America, last week.
The dems greenlighted this to get Bush out in 04. How's that working, so far, Jack???
Now, they want him to close up shop, for the purpose of blaming him for the retreat, so they can step into the White House in 08.
Hillary and her butt boys, are willing to cut the troops support to do this.
How do I feel??? I feel fine.
How do you feel Jack?
Also, go ask Harry Reid how he feels?
Yuck! How can you be talking about Democrat's policies on the Economy when the Republicans had driven the deficit through the roof. If you are old enough to remember (and I am sure you are), Clinton actually had a positive ballance! Go Dems!
'I guess it is ok with you that we have lost 3000+ of our sons and daughters? You sir are an idiot!'
An idiot mindlessly repeats the slogans he has heard like 'neo-cons' or ' ruined our reputation with the rest of the world' or any of the other infantile talking points that you regurgitate here without any appreciation of what they mean. An idiot mindlessly apologizes for, or makes excuses for, or outright adopts the talking points of whatever policy of whomever is doing our country the most damage at any given moment, be it Putin, the Chinese or islamist terrorists. An idiot will do that because he is so unbelievably insecure that he needs to adopt the opinions of others and because he is so stupid/lazy that he is incapable of formulating his own. An idiot will side with whomever is threatening the country most at any given moment because all he can see is his resentment for Bush, and if things are going badly for the USA that makes Bush look bad by extension.. An idiot does not think for one frigging second about the implications of this idiocy.
So 'Jack Smack', slang for 'has nothing' which is ironically appropriate for you to adopt as a user name: You are an idiot.
and is now playing with nukes in the name of god.
We are talking about 10 non-nuke rockets to bring down nukes launched by Iran or other dipshit country.
You don't even realize these are not nukes
Clinton actually had a positive ballance! Go Dems!
Ballance is a 3D puzzle computer game. It was developed by Cyparade and published by Atari. The gameplay is similar to Marble Madness: The player controls a ball that he has to move from one point to another without falling off the screen.
The reason there was a surplus was due to the fact Clinton stopped spending a ton of money on security related things,(helping to cause 9/11 with no warning) and let corporate liars fake the books for years.
Add to that the internet stock bubble , where 65% plus of companies going public didn't make money, and you had a high liquidity period of time with higher tax revs comung in on the fake profits.
All you have to do is look were the nasdaq was (5132)and now 7 years later at 49.3% lower at 2600 to know a lot of fake profits were being taxed--use your brain for more than to fill the space between your ears
Resentment against Bush, just like that ?I thought we were telking plotics here ,not personal aversion .Fact is that the politics practiced by Bush and his neocon puppetmaster inly broughy misery to the world, included the USA .It is a blatant lie to stat that the budget deficit has diminished during the presidency of Bush, aux contraire,he has dug a gigantic hole whereas Clinton indeed created a positive balance .Get your facts right SP4 .As for the backpeddling of Hillary ,nothing wrong with that .In the aftermath of 9.11 Bush declared that Iraq was a safeheaven for Ql Quaida ,preparing a nuclear weapons,
Once upon a time George W. Bush met with Russian President Vladimir Putin and declared that he 'looked into his soul' and 'The Decider' decided in his highly formulaic fashion and came to the conclusion that this was a man with whom he could do business. Actually, the meeting went something like this...During their first meeting the question of faith came up. Bush asked Putin about his beliefs. Putin didn't answer directly but told Bush a parable about how his family dacha outside of Moscow burned to the ground and the only item that could be salvaged was a small silver cross which had once belonged to his Putin's mother. Beautiful, touching, but probably a complete fabrication devised by the Russians to take advantage of a man with little intellectual and/or emotional depth who had been described by Strobe Talbott and Michael Beschloss in their book 'At The Highest Levels' as being 'intensely partisan' (pg. 434) and who remarked that after the failed Russian coup against Yeltin saw 'the world as a treacherous place, and that his father's experience in foreign policy was still important. Encountering a reporter in the back of the plane, he asked, 'Do you think the American people are going to turn to a Democrat now?' Well, George was wrong then and he has been wrong in his assessment of both Russia and the world at-large since that time.
Putin an ex-KGB agent, is reportedly a highly skilled in both judo and chess. What can we deduce from these pursuits. Chess ( mostly mental) and judo (mostly physical) require an understanding of your opponents strengths and weaknesses. Putin is a highly cerebral man who isn't afraid to take risks either physical or mental. It has been reported that during the Goodwill Games in Russia in 1980 he was the assigned KGB agent/driver for Ted Turner and climbing to the top of the slag heap that is modern day Russia was much more difficult than growing up the fortunate son of a rich American dynastic family whose daddy was the head of the CIA and a two-term vice-president. In shot, Bush was beaten by an opponent who was far better prepared to wage war before it began. Isn't, in the words of Sun-Tzu, the battle lost or won before it is fought because of preparation? When Putin peered into The Decider's soul I wonder want he saw?
Beltway Greg.
This appears, overall, to be some attempt to gain 'Democracy' points in this global game of 'I am the greatest!' that Bush is playing for his legacy, at the world's expense. Perhaps he thinks that this attitude will keep Neocons in his corner, in the face of his total failure of policy in Iraq. If you can't beat the enemy, beat your own chest.
Certain parties have spoken of China taking our position on Iranian sanctions; but here, we see China actually siding with Russia. These two should be enemies; yet Bush has found a way to drive them together.
Highlights from today's news, where Bush has chosen to make points at a dissidents' conference, making a dangerous situation worse:
PRAGUE, Czech Republic (AP) - President Bush risked further stoking a testy dispute with Russia over a new U.S. missile defense system on Tuesday, saying Moscow has 'derailed' once-promising democratic reforms.
'In Russia, reforms that once promised to empower citizens have been derailed, with troubling implications for democratic development,' Bush said, speaking at a conference of current and former dissidents.
The president asserted that this discussion of democratic backsliding in Russia under the leadership of President Vladimir Putin was just one part of a strong relationship. 'America can maintain a friendship and push a nation toward democracy at the same time,' Bush said.
(Sorry, Putin is past putting up with this. I will be closely watching the G-8 conference to see how Putin reacts, but Bush just cannot resist another slap in the face, in Putin's view. Big talk, but no influence to make anything happen.)
'Part of a good relationship is the ability to talk openly about our disagreements,' Bush said in the speech at Czernin Palace. 'So the United States will continue to build our relationships with these countries and we will do it without abandoning our principles or our values.' Bush said this same approach applies to other allies with difficult democratic records, naming Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and China.
He listed as the nations with the 'worst dictatorships,' Belarus, Burma, Cuba, North Korea, Sudan, Zimbabwe, Iran and Syria. He also criticized Venezuela, Uzbekistan and Vietnam as places where progress had been made but now 'freedom is under assault.'
(This is the sequel to 'Axis of Evil', where he manages to destroy any hope of a relationship with multiple countries, simultaneously - kind of a diplomatic bank shot, hitting everyone).
'I pledged America to the ultimate goal of ending tyranny in our world,' he said. 'Some have said that qualifies me as a dissident president. If standing for liberty in the world makes me a dissident, then I'll wear the title with pride.'
(egomania run totally amok - someone tell him he's GONE in 2008, and this lands on the NEXT President)
'My message will be Vladimir _ I call him Vladimir _ that you shouldn't fear a missile defense system,' Bush said. 'As a matter of fact, why don't you cooperate with us on a missile defense system? Why don't you participate with the United States?'
(What else would he call him - Irving??? This freakin' dumbass of a President will yet have the legacy in the shape of a mushroom cloud, setting back 25 years of actual diplomacy, just to attempt to improve his miserable legacy).
All the AK'ers may now respond, but I don't care anymore - talking to anyone who supports Bush's totally irresponsible chatter, in the face of real threats, is too dumb to deal with. We face terrorism from al Qaeda; and now Bush enlarges the scope to actual NATIONS with nuclear capability, or who can purchase weapons.
Over and out, and restock your bomb shelters.
'You don't even realize these are not nukes' - There are already nukes, they are not going anywhere. New (anti-)missiles are designed to protect nukes not to replace them.
Similar to the way that Hitler used his Youth Movement, a similar nationalistic group has arisen in Russia, called the NASHI. You can check recent news reports on their brutal domestic activities, and they appear to have the Kremlin's full backing. This will be Putin's legacy after he leaves office. This is a dreadful situation, as it gives the youth of Russia a theme to gather around, in the name of patriotism.
Their 'manifesto' has been translated, and you can find an extensive discussion on it at (remove spaces):

Some Key Quotes:
'Today the U.S. on one side, and international terrorism on the other, are trying to take control of Eurasia and the entire world. Their sights are set on Russia. The task of our generation is to defend the sovereignty of our country the way our grandfathers did 60 years ago.'
'The 'Orange Revolution' in Ukraine and the 'Rose Revolution' in Georgia occurred due to internal reasons, but under critically important influence from outside. External forces in large part prepared these revolutions and organized their progress. For this reason one can say that the countries that underwent 'colored revolutions' organized from abroad in large measure lost their sovereignty.'
'On the eve of the 2007-2008 elections, the party of oligarch revenge is again raising its head. It is betting on an orange revolution in Russia, a 'Berzovskiy revolution.' We, NASHI, will not allow the party of oligarch revenge to return to power in Russia. We will not allow them to steal Russia's future. Oligarch capitalism is our main enemy in Russia. We will uproot it and ensure progress, freedom and justice in Russia.:'
'NASHI is firmly determined not to allow Russia to suffer a geopolitical coup d'etat and the introduction of external control under the guise of a 'colored revolution.' At the decisive hour we are prepared to send hundreds of thousands of young people into the streets of Russia under the banner of 'Sovereignty and Independence for Russia.' We are prepared to fight for Russian democracy.'
RE:'Resentment against Bush, just like that ?I thought we were telking plotics here ,not personal aversion. Fact is that the politics practiced by Bush and his neocon puppetmaster inly broughy misery to the world, included the USA.'
Okay, Tonny, I'll give you credit here. The Bushbaby's puppeteers are indeed Neocons. But misery here? Yes and no. Like a lot of things, it all depends on how you look at it. He most certainly has been entirely too lenient with his immigration policies and that has indeed suppressed wages, but that was a policy that was followed by Bill Clinton. Clinton squashed our wages AND increased taxes. As for the war, I cannot remember a time when we were NOT at war somewhere and we are taking fewer casualties in this one than any other war we have ever fought. I imagine that the Iraqis are pretty damned miserable, but that is mostly their fault at this point, not ours.
RE:'It is a blatant lie to stat that the budget deficit has diminished during the presidency of Bush, aux contraire,he has dug a gigantic hole whereas Clinton indeed created a positive balance .'
Tonny, have you ever tried to read our budget? I guarantee you that no one CAN read it and also make sense of it. As it happens, I went to the trouble to get my hands on a copy of it one time and did try to read it and understand it. Here's news for you, the whole thing is one great big lie. It has been a lie every year it has been produce for the last several decades. I don't think ANYBODY knows what shape our finances are in.
RE:'Get your facts right SP4 .As for the backpeddling of Hillary ,nothing wrong with that .In the aftermath of 9.11 Bush declared that Iraq was a safeheaven for Ql Quaida ,preparing a nuclear weapons,'
You are going to have to explain yourself better on this one, Tonny. I maintain that she voted FOR the war out of cowardice. Others in her own party that accuse her of it are right. On balance though, it is probably unreasonable of us to expect that much courage from ANY politician. The American public was FURIOUS at that time and were buying every claim the Bushbaby made about Iraq.
SP4, I feel great, you neo-con's cannot shift the blame for this stupid move from your boy GW. By the way what flavor was the cool-aid today?
