I applaud Taiwan's stand on this. The people of Taiwan has the right of self-determination.
Dear Bush, what an enlightening and helpful comment.
This was a very well-written report I thought, pointing out quite correctly the view point of the Taiwanese that they are not part of China, and that they have the right to deny the Communist Chinese government the opportunity to make political mischief by implying that the are.
BTW, for non-Chinese readers of this report, it should be pointed pout although the Chinese will dent their intentions to the international media, various reports and documents produced in China itself, do explicitly deny that Taiwan is part of the 'international route' of the torch.
Given that Taiwan has been never been governed by the Chinese Communists, and has been self governing since 1949, and has its own democratically elected government, it is perfectly logical that Taiwan is extremely reluctant to be associated with an authoritarian communist state that denies their right to exist.
