Victims of this disaster will multiply many times over because of the delays caused by this military dictatorship. 100,000 dead will become 500,000 with the spread of catastrophic disease.
The ONLY language this brutal regime understands is force. Under the auspices of UN human rights conventions, the US administration ought to have the courage to intervene forcibly. The Burma military is very weak, and could be overcome very quickly. In the interests of democracy, and the lives of thousands, our president Bush could redeem himself, and put his money where his mouth is. But as usual, we do not have a president with the courage of his convictions. He will be remembered only as the president of the cronies and the oilmen. Not the people. Just as he did with Katrina.
His silence on this catastrophe is deafening.
