EU urges resumption of dialogue in Honduras

Stockholm - The European Union urged the sides in Honduras to resume the 'dialogue' aimed at restoring ousted President Manual Zelaya to power and expressed concern over the 'interruption' in the process. Sweden, holder of the rotating presidency of the 27-nation bloc, issued the statement late Saturday on behalf of the EU. The EU presidency said it supported efforts by among others the Organization of American States (OAS) and the United States to 'facilitate further dialogue to ensure the implementation of the agreement' to form a government of national unity. Both the OAS and the US have also called for the talks to resume. On Friday Zelaya stated that the deal to end the political crisis in the Central American state appeared to have failed.
