UN chief condemns Honduras violence (Extra)

Geneva - The military ousting of Honduran President Manuel Zelaya was 'not acceptable,' United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said Monday. Ban also called on the current authority in the country to refrain from using further violence against protesters. At least two demonstrators have been killed in clashes with the country's armed forces. 'I am very saddened by the loss of lives in the course of these demonstrations,' Ban told reporters in Geneva, where he was attending several conferences. 'Citizens should be allowed to express their free will without being intimidated or threatened by physical force,' Ban said. The military and Zelaya 'can find the solution through restoring constitutional procedures,' he said. 'The unconstitutional change of power is not acceptable,' the head of the UN said.
