'...He said in an acceptance speech that the UN should end all wars and called the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan 'acts of aggression...'
Hey....when you're right.... you're right.
this isn't going to sit well with the US. After all they are the world's greatest rogue nation.
Unfortunately, this message should be aimed at Al-Qaeda and not the U.S. If the U.S. were never to go to war, Al-Qaeda and terrorists would continue to kill and maim millions around the world and nobody, including the U.N., would do anything about it. Who then would stop them? Calling the U.S. aggressors is all well and good and I'm sure It's making liberals feel great but that's not the world we live.
how many millions have been killed by WHO? Take a good, hard look at history. Take a look at central and south america, where sovereign nations were turned into banana republics for craperations like Dole. Take a look at the far east, Vietnam and the Phillipines for instance. Take a look at anywhere in the world that the US has been and you will see death, destruction and economic enslavement. I'll take my chances with Al Queda. The odds look a lot better.
Uh, you take a hard look at history. Stalin, Hitler and probably a hero of your-Che among many many others thruout history. For that matter, take a good look at today's worldwide headlines. Actually read about the history of slavery and all peoples involved. Actually read about communism and how many have died for it. You and American liberals may get off on beating up America but I will still take my country over any other in the world.
First of all, the priest is right. The Iraq and Afghanistan wars are acts of aggression.
Second, he was speaking within his responsibilities as an UN official.
And third, that US ambassador to the UN was out of line and arrogant to boot to think he could 'warn' the new president of the General Assembly.
