Negroponte is a lying criminal and has always been a new world order man. Check out his history in Honduras. He is no more for democracy than was Hitler. He's just another war criminal who has yet to pay for his mis-deeds....

Unfortunately Venezuela is now reaping what it has sown. After many, many years of corruption, inept governments and soaring poverty, what can be expected?? To what else can the marginalized and totally disenfranchised to turn to and believe in? If I were there and living in abject poverty, I too might be a Chavez supporter. With all the petrol-money Venezuela has, couldn't they have done better over all these YEARS!? Its astonishing. The Arab countries have distributed their petrol-dollars to the benefit of society. Why couldn't Venezuela do the same? It is truly amazing at how badly a culture, a society, a people so misappropriated its wealth and abrogated its duty to its populace.

But I wish it were different, as I am no Chavez lover. Venezuela is so inept, that they had him on the airport tarmac, overthrown and ready to fly to Cuba, but in the end, those idiots flip-flopped and let him re-assume his powers!

But the point is -- and why the United States does not seem to ever get this -- democracy will flourish where there is economic justice opportunity & development, widespread education and an ascent from poverty, not just the mere transplantation of McDonald's, Pepsi-Cola plants and other blatant forms of Gringo-centric economic prosperity.

He is a threat to the tyrants of the world- overgrown frat boys who get their kicks drowning witches for profit. He is not a threat to democracy. Bush and his people are.

First he siezed internationaly owned assets. Then he had people who didnt vote for him fired from their jobs. He's filled the assembly with corrupt yes men and started working to destroy press freedom. Closed down an opposition TV station with no clear reason and now he wants autocratic powers of decree. Nice knowing you Venezula, you just got what you wanted, a dictator for life.

Who couldn't see this coming?

(Other then the arrested adolescent Trotskites who made this little tin-plated generalissimo their darling.)
