What is this going to do to the Chilean plans for 5 new hydroelectric dams in the region? They were supposed to publish an environmental impact statement by end of May. Where can we see satellite photos, maps, mapping the 5 proposed dams and proximity to the volcano?
Chile should use geo thermal to generate electricity, but instead of trying to run wires all the way to Santiago through the rainforest, they should run wires to the nearby ocean and generate hydrogen. Then they can use some and sell some with close to zero carbon footprint.
Is the volcano still active? LOL The volcano threatens the dam and also the entire region of Patagonia. Some scientists fear another Vesuvius could result, with hot ash & rock coming down like white death.
Three possibilities: It continues to rumble for years; a major lava eruption commences; or worst -- the cone collapses sparking a major quake & much destruction.

Why has there been so little new coverage of this volcano?
Is it still active?
What impact is it likely to have on worldwide weather?
Why isn't this kind of information being provided?
