George Strait – ‘Here For a Good Time’ – Album Review

Country music icon George Strait’s new studio album ‘Here For a Good Time’ is the perfect example of what has made the singer a legend in his genre and that he is still at the top of his game.

Along with being the singer’s 39th studio album release, ‘Here For a Good Time’ follows the tremendous success of Strait’s 2008 album ‘Troubadour’ and its 2009 follow-up ‘Twang.’

With the album’s release, Strait is demonstrating to all the new country musicians what real country music is supposed to sound like and that he has no plans of stepping down as the “King of  Country.”

Strait, who is a Country Music Hall of Famer, co-wrote seven of the album’s 11 tracks with his son Bubba and legendary songwriter Dean Dillon. He also co-produced the album with his long-time friend and legendary producer Tony Brown.

It was recorded at Shrimpboat Sound Studio in Key West, FL - the same studio where Strait recorded his last three award-winning albums.

The title track “Here For a Good Time” (written by Strait, his son and Dillon) is the singer’s 89th career single and his second highest debut in his storied career on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. 

The album features Strait’s trademark traditional country sound with singles like “Drinkin’ Man,” “Shame on Me,” and “Poison.” It also features singles perfect for the honky-tonk bars where Strait performed in his early days – such as the title track, “Lone Star Blues,” and “Blue Marlin Blues.”

Any fan of country music or Strait will want to add this to their collection and it is easy to recommend.
