Country music queen Reba McEntire sounds like she feels at home with a variety of big-name artists, who wisely adapt to her style rather than making her stretch to accommodate them. Perhaps the biggest surprise is her duet with Justin Timberlake on "The Only Promise That Remains," which he wrote for her as an acoustic ballad far removed from most of the music he makes on his own. Country queen Reba McEntire gathers together some of her musical pals to accompany her on his new album of duets.

She teams up with LeAnn Rimes (“When You Love Someone Like That”), Ronnie Dunn (of Brooks and Dunn) (“Does the Wind Still Blow in Oklahoma?”), Kelly Clarkson (“Because of You”), Rascal Flatts (“Faith in Love”), Trisha Yearwood (“She Can’t Save Him”), Carole King (“Everyday People”), Kenny Chesney (“Every Other Weekend”), Vince Gill (“These Broken Hearts”), Faith Hill (“Sleeping with the Telephone”), Justin Timberlake (“The Only Promise that Remains”), and Don Henley (“Break Each Other’s Hearts Again”).

The country artists are perhaps the “usual accomplices” but the field appears to be open to all comers with Timberlake, Clarkson, Henley, and King contributing to the album.  Reba is in fine voice and the duet participants also contribute some great work here as well.

I’d be hard pressed to say that any of the songs are bad – they all have something to recommend them.  They may have saved the best for last since Henley and Reba are great in their track.  All of the tracks have something to recommend them.

Through them all run Reba and that’s what truly makes it a great album.  She’s chosen her guest cast well and in turn has produced a fabulous album.

'Duets' is now available at Amazon. Visit the music database for more information.
