Album Review: Mink – ‘Mink’

Mink is a new band that I’ve never heard of – not that I keep up with such things (although my reviewing keeps introducing me to the like).  They have to be doing something right since they were asked to tour with KISS this summer.

After hearing their debut album I can see why – they rock!  Mink is Nick Carlson (vocals), Stella Mozgawa (drums), David Lowy (rhythm guitar), Nick Maybury (lead guitar) and Grant Fitzpatrick (bass).  I was expecting something along the line of some punk screamers (punk as in punk rock, although who I assume is the lead singer is posing punkishly) from the picture on the front of the disc I was sent.

So I was pleasantly surprised when I could understand the lyrics and the band was so good.  The album starts off in grand rockin’ style with “Get it Right,” but my favorite is next, “Madame Chung.”  “Talk to Me” is getting lots of radio play so I’ve read and it too is a great song.

Another favorite is “Sweeter” which has a bouncy beat to it and a rockin’ undercurrent.  I had my doubts at first glance but by the end of the album I was a Mink fan.  Great stuff really.

‘Mink’ is now available at Amazon. Visit the music database for more information.
