The mismatched Dutch duo behind the ecstatic dance hit

The mismatched Dutch duo behind the ecstatic dance hit "Move Your Feet" returns with its second album after considerable record company headaches. Fortunately, the delayed release date has done little to diminish Hey Hey My My Yo Yo\'s voracious appetite for a great party. Just look at the guest list: Cindy Wilson and Kate Pierson of the B-52\'s, Le Tigre, \'60s Motown girl group the Velvelettes, even Spooner Oldham. "There\'s ...more

Junior Senior is a musical duo from Denmark.  Junior is Jesper Mortensen (vocals, keyboards, guitar, bass) and Senior is Jeppe Laursen (vocals).

“Move your Feet” from their first album, ‘D-D-Don’t Stop the Beat’ (2003), was a big player on Danish radio and even had success in other countries (got to #3 on UK charts).

‘Hey Hey My My Yo Yo’ is their second album but was released in 2005 and climbed to #2 on Japanese charts.  It wings its way from Dane-land courtesy of Ryko records.  The cover has a definite ‘80s feel to it and I thought that they were a group from that period.  The tunes have a definite feel of the 80s to my untrained ear.

They do have a certain sort of “happy” lyric/rhythm that is going to either drive you insane or fill you with joy.  I’m afraid I’m leaning toward insane.  However, if you’re a fan of the group then you’ll be pleased to get this release.

It has a bonus disc which has the “Say Hello, Wave Goodbye” EP that has 7 more tunes.  I guess that the songs are addictive to some but I think I might’ve gotten cavities from how bubblegum “sweet” it was.

‘Hey Hey My My Yo Yo’ is now available at Amazon. Visit the music database for more information.
