Album Review: Jesse Harris – ‘Feel’
By Jeff Swindoll Jul 10, 2007, 15:17 GMT

Jesse Harris is perhaps known best as a songwriter. He wrote the song “Don’t Know Why” which was on Norah Jones’ album ‘Come Away with Me’ (as well as providing some guitar work as well). In 2003 he won a Grammy for song of the year for “Don’t Know Why.”
Although Harris writes songs for other artists he also writes and releases albums in his own right. His latest entry is ‘Feel.’ Harris has almost a folk quality but is definitely more towards a rock artist. The songs have a spare feel to them, in that they have guitar or other “softer” instruments and Harris’ vocals. However, they still have a rock sound to them.
Harris has a pleasing voice and the songs have nice lyrics, which you’d expect from a Grammy winning songwriter. “Walk On” is a breezy, almost calypso-like, and is a very good listen to my untrained ear. “The Wind” is a more somber, slower tune but is also still a nice comparison to “Walk On” - since it follows immediately and feels like a bit of a torch song (again to my untrained ear).
I enjoyed Harris and thought that he provided some soul-searching lyrics as well as providing a truly haunting vocal quality to them.
‘Feel’ is now available at Amazon. Visit the music database for more information.
