Album Review: Bryan Ferry – ‘Dylanesque’

Bryan Ferry has crafted an excellent album where he puts his own spin on some of Bob Dylan’s classic songs. ‘Dylanesque’ is simply a joy to listen to from start to finish, and Ferry is in fine form on each song.

I am a big Bob Dylan fan, and I will admit that I had my doubts when I first heard of this album. I am not a huge fan of cover albums, and have never been a big fan of Ferry’s music. The first song I listened to on the album was “Positively 4th Street,” and it was enough to hook me on ‘Dylanesque.’On some songs (such as “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” and “Make You Feel My Love”) Ferry stays true to the tone and pace that Dylan established in the original release. However, he also changes up some of the classics, and puts his own touches to them – most notably on “Positively 4th Street.” He ends the album perfectly with a rocking version of “All Along the Watchtower” – which can hang with anything being done by modern rockers.If you are a fan of Ferry or Dylan, I HIGHLY recommend ‘Dylanesque.’ From start to finish, Ferry delivers an album that hits all the right notes and will not let you down.‘Dylanesque’ is now available at Amazon.
