Album Review: Bon Jovi – ‘Lost Highway’
By Patrick Luce Jun 27, 2007, 0:42 GMT

While it doesn’t rock as hard as the band’s glory days in the 80s, Bon Jovi’s new studio album ‘Lost Highway’ still manages to be an entertaining listen and on par with the direction the band has been headed with other recent releases.
‘Lost Highway’ has made some headlines due to its “more country sound,” but I felt the album was still more rock than country. It also sounds more like some of the songs on Jon Bon Jovi’s solo work – such as ‘Blaze of Glory’ and ‘Destination Anywhere.’
The album seems to follows some of the ground the band broke when they released ‘This Left Feels Right’ – which put a slower (often acoustic or “country”) spin on their older hits. In other words, don’t expect the screaming and power guitar solos from ‘New Jersey.’
The album’s title track sets the pace – a somewhat pop-country sound mixed with the kind of lyrics that brought the band to the top of the charts. Lead single “(You Want to) Make a Memory” is a classic Bon Jovi ballad, and is sure to continue to please the band’s female fan base.
When I first listened to the album, I was less than impressed. I am a fan of some of Bon Jovi’s early music, and consider ‘New Jersey’ their best album. The albums lately have all been radio friendly, but haven’t really appealed to me.
However, ‘Lost Highway’ has grown on me, and I do consider it a solid album from the band. It is a bit of a departure from their “rock” roots, but is sure to please any of their fans. I would recommend taking a chance on it.
‘Lost Highway’ is now available at Amazon. Visit the music database for more information.

People say that Bon Jovi have \'lost it\' with this album and that their post-2000 material is no good and they\'ve sold out and blah blah.
I don\'t see it happening people,I saw a review on BBC website and some nut named Alan from Stock port was griping about Bon Jovi and how they suck and the same old crap.
And then later that guy compares that Bon Jovi would never ever have legacy of bands like Aerosmith and Metallica...!!
Are you kidding me? Aerosmith\'s are the one who are taking it easy, they released their last studio album 7 years ago and are just cashing in on \'best of\'s\' whereas Bon Jovi have been working their asses off throughout the decade,4 studio albums(be it good or bad but at least they\'re giving it a shot).
and this album is a pretty good one, good fusion of country with rock music makes this a unique album, and yes although the whole idea might have been due to the who says you can go home(country version)success, but who wouldn\'t want to take an advantage of it and that\'s what makes this band so successful,at least they try instead of taking it easy by releasing one album in 5-7 years and then cashing in on the \'documentary\'s\' *coughsomekindofmonstercough* and greatest hits.

A good country-rock album.
Excellent guitar solos by Richie Sambora(any other day, everybody's broken, one step closer, whole lot of leaving, lost highway).
make a memory is an excellent ballad, just wish that songs like we got it going on and strangers wouldn't have seen the light of the day, they suck and i would have rather have walk like a man and lonely in their place.
a good album none the less.
