The Naked Trucker and his buddy Gerald “T-Bones” Tibbons have a show on Comedy Central. I’ve not watched it, but on occasion I caught the beginning when I DVR’d the Sarah Silverman Program. It seemed like a required taste with T-Bones seeming like a mentally retarded cousin of Larry the Cable Guy.
Now the audience appears to be having a good time and laughing it up but I can’t say that I had the good time that they did. It’s not really a comedy performance but the fellas perform a number of songs with a few bits of business in between.
On the show, Dave Allen plays Naked Trucker and David Koechner plays T-Bones. Yes, Naked Trucker is a…(wait for it) naked trucker who fortunately has a guitar strategically placed over his naughty bits. T-Bones is a seemingly mentally retarded hick with a bad comb-over and lamb chop sideburns who appears drunk, high, or both most of the time.
This CD is a live musical performance of theirs at the Troubadour in Hollywood, California. Now the audience appears to be having a good time and laughing it up but I can’t say that I had the good time that they did. It’s not really a comedy performance but the fellas perform a number of songs with a few bits of business in between.
I will admit that “Hobo Holiday (2 Dollars)” made me laugh but most didn’t get more than a grin from me. They do perform “Gin & Juice,” “Ballad of the Naked Trucker,” “My Daddy is an Astronaut (T-Bones’ mama tells him his daddy is Buzz Aldrin to explain why he doesn’t have one, grin),” and “My American Dream.”
I think some of those appear on the show, but since I don’t watch it I’m not sure. Perhaps an acquired taste, but those that like the Comedy Central show will want to pick it up.
‘Live at the Troubadour’ is now available at Amazon. Visit the music database for more information.
