On being in Minneapolis: “I’m happier than Michael Jackson disguised as a floor lamp at a Harry Potter book signing.” Larry the Cable Guy is one of the redneck performers from the Blue Collar Comedy Tour whose iconic cry of “Git-r-done” is known throughout the South.
If you’re a fan then you’ll find some laughs, which is more than I can say for Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector.
He was born Daniel Lawrence Whitney but his career took off when he developed the hick character of Larry the Cable Guy that was a staple of several radio shows with his observations and tales of his deranged family. His comedy albums “Lord, I Apologize (2001)” and “The Right to Bare Arms (2005)” have both gone gold. He returns this year with “Morning Constitutions.”
The album is recorded at his concert in Minneapolis and “I don’t care who you are, that’s funny right there.” He does his usual schtick but also talks about his recent marriage, terrorists, hot pocket constipation, sings some songs, and the culinary delight of making poop lasagna. Don’t worry you get some updates on his various relatives.
If you’re a fan then you’ll find some laughs, which is more than I can say for Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector. Larry gives a funny performance with some comedy gems. On parenting: “Did you know when a baby poops its diaper, you’re not supposed to hit it with a rolled up newspaper?”
I laughed more at this one than I did with another comedy album (hint: Naked Trucker) and would say that Larry scores again. Git-r-done.
