Album Review: Kimberly Locke – ‘Based on a True Story’
By Jeff Swindoll Apr 30, 2007, 16:22 GMT

I liked all the tracks, and great tracks “Change,” “Any Which Way,” and “Trust Myself” make a great start to the album.
Kimberly Locke is another “American Idol” alumnus who is putting out her sophomore album. She placed third on the show and lost out to Ruben Stoddard and Clay Aiken. She released her first album ‘One Love’ in 2004 and the single “8th World Wonder” rose to number one on U.S. charts.
She also scored with two Christmas songs, “Up on the Housetop” and “Jingle Bells,” which also rose to number one during the holiday season. Now comes the chart testing second album and all “Idol” eyes can turn from fallen “Idol” Jessica Sierra (recently arrested on drug and assault charges) and onto Locke to see if she can replicate the success of her first album.
The first single off of ‘True Story’ is “Supawoman,” which is an okay song. However, where she really scored with me is the first track on the album “Change” – damn that girl can sing! This track should be destined to replicate her chart topping success but only time will tell.
The twelfth track is a remake of the Freda Payne's 1970s hit "Band of Gold." I liked all the tracks, and great tracks “Change,” “Any Which Way,” and “Trust Myself” make a great start to the album.
“Supawoman” was good, but I preferred those that precede it (but it’s sorta growing on me). The album is fantastic and should please her fans but should also make her some new ones. I know that I’m one now.
‘Based on a True Story’ is now available at Amazon. Visit the music database for more information and a complete track listing.
