Album Review: Natalie Cole – ‘Love Songs’
By Jeff Swindoll Feb 16, 2007, 19:28 GMT

Natalie Cole made her debut in 1975 with her album ‘Inseparable.’ Her performance of “This will be (an everlasting love)” won her the 1976 Grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance as well as the Best New Artist Grammy in the same year.
She’s also the daughter of the legendary Nat King Cole, so her musical ability is in her blood. She may be most remembered for her album ‘Unforgettable...with love’ in which through the magic of overdubbing she was able to sing a duet with her late father (he died when she was 15).
This collection comes in time for Valentine’s Day and covers her love songs from 1975-2000. This is a compilation album so those expecting something new will be disappointed. These 19 tracks either are love songs or have love in the title.
“Unforgettable” and “When I Fall in Love” are duets with her famous father that are included on the disc as well as “This will be (an everlasting love).” Since none of these songs are new, the dedicated Natalie Cole fan will probably have them in their collections already. Those fans may want to inspect the track list and confirm if they do have them.
Those that don’t may well want to pick up this disc for a little romantic music sung by a marvelous singer. The inclusion of her duets with her father is most welcome. ‘Love Songs’ is a fine album, but dedicated fans might want to check the track list before purchasing.
‘Love Songs’ is now available at Amazon. Visit the music database for more information and a complete track listing.
