I have read a few reviews on this album now and they have all said pretty much the same thing: that they think it's ok, but nothing special. Well, I disagree! Hearing the Foo's play stripped back versions of their songs is so great! The fragility of Grohl's lyrics and the simplicity of his melodies get shown for the magic that they are without everything being turned up to eleven. Most fans of the Foo's (including myself) love the energy and grit of their work, but I think that it is that desire to hear only angry dirty Foo's has led to disapointment from some, who voice it without giving the music itself a chance to grow on them. There is an almost folk-ish feel to the work on Skin and Bones and it desrves to be listened to with an open mind. *****
