Album Review: Various Artists – ‘Pure ‘80s #1s’
By Jeff Swindoll Jun 21, 2006, 13:29 GMT

Fans of 80s music and fans of compilations will find something to like in this collection of number one hits from Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.
Even thought they got numerous hours of radio play in the day, it’s always nice to have a compilation of some of the sounds of the 1980s. The collector may want the rarities or lesser known songs, but music fans will appreciate hearing the songs that they were constantly jamming to in this decade.
They include a sampling of some of the decades best and most memorable including “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor, “Owner of a Lonely Heart” by Yes, “Addicted to Love” by Robert Palmer, “Everybody wants to Rule the World” by Tears for Fears, “Don’t You (Forget about Me)” by Simple Minds, and “Higher Love” by Steve Winwood.
I’ll have to admit that when looking them over there were a couple that I looked at and didn’t recall the song or the artist. That was until I listened to the song and it was like “oh yeah, I remember that one.”
I always enjoy compilations and this had the 80s flooding back to me. I’d recommend it if you want to relive those glorious 1980s, musically that is – don’t you go and try on those 80s clothes in the closet. You may find that they don’t fit anymore. However, this CD is one size fits all.
