Cheryl Cole is secretly plotting a solo career.

The Girls Aloud star is reportedly set to enter the recording studio with top British producer T2, who has worked with artists including Kelly Rowland, Kate Nash and Natasha Bedingfield.

A source said: "Cheryl and T2 have been in discussions about her solo material. He is the man of the moment, with a lot of pop acts clamouring for his expertise on collaborations."

Cheryl, 24, was said to be upset when the Leeds-born producer delayed their planned studio sessions to work with former Mis-Teeq star Alesha Dixon.

The source added to Britain's The Sun newspaper: "T2 told Cheryl she would have to hold on a bit longer for their studio sessions because he had commitments with Alesha, which went down like a lead balloon.

"Cheryl is keen to get cracking on new material and didn't want to play second fiddle to anyone."

Cheryl is not the first member of Girls Aloud to make preparations for a solo career.

Sarah Harding is believed to have recorded a series of demos with Faithless star Rollo last year, while Nadine has also reportedly been pursuing other solo projects in Los Angeles.
