MySpace, America’s most trafficked Web site,  broadcasted Projekt Revolution concert tour stop at the DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan as a MySpace LIVE! event on Wednesday, August 22nd.

As one of the official sponsors of the Projekt Revolution concert series, taking place this summer across the country, NowWhat hosted the stream of the concert on its MySpace profile (http://myspace.com/nowwhat). The concert featured artists including Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday and others. Matt Pinfield, an MTV and music industry veteran, hosted the six-hour concert stream – the longest live stream in MySpace history.

“MySpace’s perspective on music and support of up-and-coming artists is very much in line with Linkin Park’s vision for the Projekt Revolution tour,” said Josh Brooks, vice president of marketing and content at MySpace. “It is in fitting with this vision that MySpace LIVE! is proud to host the groundbreaking stream of the concert and share over six full hours of music with millions of MySpace members who may not have otherwise been exposed to the artists featured throughout the show.”

MySpace LIVE!, a MySpace offering which brings select live events to the MySpace community via streaming online video, gave MySpace users watching at home the opportunity to submit real-time messages through an on-site message ticker. The streaming of this concert was the third in a series of MySpace LIVE! events, with previous online streamed concerts having featured DJ Paul Oakenfold and Grammy award winning rapper T.I.

In a MySpace LIVE! first, five fans at the Projekt Revolution concert, armed with cell phones, took video footage of the concert which was incorporated into the live stream on MySpace. The phones let anyone with a compatible cell phone stream live video from their phone to the internet with a press of a button.

Now in its fourth year, Project Revolution is an annual concert tour headlined and created by two-time Grammy winning band Linkin Park.  Each year Linkin Park hand picks up-and-coming and established artists on the cutting-edge of hip-hop and rock to perform on the tour.  Projekt Revolution alumni include Korn, Snoop Dogg, Cypress Hill, Xzibit, Mudvayne, Adema, Blindside and DJ Z-Trip.

This year Project Revolution has partnered with Music For Relief to donate $1 from each ticket sold to American Forests’ Global ReLeaf program to plant trees and help reduce global temperatures.
