Bjork Left Overwhelmed by Fan's Response to Charity Single
By M&C News Apr 6, 2005, 12:10 GMT
Icelandic singer Bjork invited her fans to remix hit 1995 single Army Of Me to raise funds for the United Nation's Children's Fund (UNICEF) - and she was overwhelmed by the response she received.
The ground-breaking songwriter posted the request on her website and was quickly inundated with more than 600 re-worked versions of the track - she listened to every single version before choosing her favourite 20.
The 39-year-old says, "I had no idea that so many people were so busy in their bedrooms!
"Remixes are interesting because they are a particular brand of collaboration. It was like I was the songwriter and all these people were the arrangers and interpreters. I liked the anonymity of it."
