U2 have been inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame at a ceremony in New York.
Bruce Springsteen was on hand to induct the band saying: "This was a band that wanted to lay claim to this world and the next one, too."
The ceremony was held to mark 50 years of Rock 'n' Roll and also witnessed The Pretenders, O'Jays, Percy Sledge and Buddy Guy added to the list.
The Boss was in good humour saying Bono had pioneered the Irish mullet and that he had the most endearing messianic complex in the business. He also paid tribute to them saying U2 were the only band from the last 20 years whose names he knew.
The Pretenders were inducted by rock legend Neil Young with Percy Sledge being introduced by Rod Stewart.
Other performers at the event were Bo Diddley, Eric Clapton, Jerry Lee Lewis and BB King.
