Hot 97 Feels the Heat
By James Wray Mar 10, 2005, 13:02 GMT
The radio station in New York where several rap star related shootings have taken place is facing the cancellation of its lease.
Hot 97, where one of 50 Cent’s group was the center of a shooting while the star was broadcasting, has received notification from its landlord, the New York District Council of Carpenters, saying that the shootings have made the premises unsafe for other tenants.
The New York Daily News reports that for the station to keep its home it must notify the union one-week in advance of any appearances by such stars. They will then advise the police, hire security and maybe even install metal detectors in order to ensure no weapons are present. Rap stars visiting the station will also be limited to one guest, rather than the usual entourage.
