Franz Ferdinand picked up two top awards at last night's NME awards.
The Glasgow art-rockers took Best Album and Best Track at the London awards show.
Speaking at the ceremony front-man Alex Kapranos said: "When we got together as a group we wanted to be a pop group but we didn’t want to be like those people that come out of those TV shows, not that kind of rubbish.
"We wanted to be like the groups we enjoyed, those that inspired us like New Order and Oasis.”
The Libertines won Best British Band but former singer Pete Doherty did not appear at the night. Doherty was thrown out of the band last year after failing to quit his drug habit. He is currently on bail after an alleged assault on a journalist.
Current Libertines member Carl Barat had some words for Doherty at the event: "My heart goes out to Pete this evening, this is as much for him as for anyone, and obviously I hoped he would be here on the off chance that we’d have some kind of reunion.
“It means a hell of a lot to win because we’ve been through a hell of a lot this year, it’s been a difficult year.”
Other winners included Muse for Best Live Band, The Killers for Best International Band and Green Day who won Best Video.
The late John Peel was honored with a posthumous Lifelong Service to Music award.
