Charlotte Church Added to the Bill of Tsunami Aid Concert
By James Wray Jan 12, 2005, 21:55 GMT
Charlotte Church is to join the lineup for the concert being held for victims of the tsunami disaster.
The 18-year-old singer said she was “absolutely chuffed” to be involved, especially as the other musicians include some of her favourites.
Other acts include Eric Clapton, Jools Holland, Lemar and Wales' own Manic Street Preachers.
“I was unbelievably touched by what happened, so I wanted to get involved in helping in any way I could,” she said. “I know we have all seen the news footage but I just don’t think it shows the enormity of what has happened.”
The concert organisers also said today that Keane had joined the list of artists performing. They will join Liberty X, Craig David, Heather Small, Badly Drawn Boy, Embrace, Feeder, Aled Jones, Katherine Jenkins and Snow Patrol. Another three or four bands are expected to confirm in the next few days.
It is hoped that another three or four bands will join the bill for the seven-hour concert in the next few days.
Negotiations are still on progress regards televising the event. The organisers also hope to be able to sell additional tickets, given the initial 60,000 sold out in three days.
People attending the concert can find travel and other details on the recently launched Web site.
