Los Angeles - British soul singer Adele emerged as the favourite for Grammy glory Wednesday night when she was nominated six times for the Oscars of the US music industry.
Adele, 23, was nominated for best album for 21, as well as best record and song for Rolling in the Deep.
While her tally of six nods was beaten by the seven nominations given to Kanye West, most of those were for prizes in the rap category, with his only chance for a major honour being in the best song bracket for All of the Lights.
The record of the year category includes Bon Iver's Holocene, Bruno Mars' Grenade, Mumford & Sons' The Cave and Katy Perry's Firework. Competing for album of the year award are Foo Fighters' Wasting Light, Lady Gaga's Born This Way, Mars' Doo-Wops & Hooligans and Rihanna's Loud.
Along with Bon Iver, the best new artist nominees are country trio the Band Perry, rappers J Cole and Nicki Minaj and DJ performer Skrillex.
The awards will be announced at a star-studded show on February 12 at Los Angeles' Staples Centre.
